Teeth that are not so perfectly aligned can worsen in time if left untreated. Orthodontists evaluate the case and presents the choices for treatment that can be used with the patient choosing the best course of treatment. The teeth are then braced up (older treatments used titanium parts which are either cemented or glued to the teeth that have to be aligned and then a wire made of memory alloy that contracts due to the body’s heat is attached) This form of treatment is quite uncomfortable for the first few weeks as the teeth are slowly pulled into alignment by the attached braces. This treatment also requires vigilant cleaning and maintenance coupled with weekly visits to the dentist to evaluate the progress of treatment and make adjustments as needed. This take something from a few months to a few years for the teeth have to be aligned slowly for too much pulling by the braces can remove it totally worsening the problem.
